More Geekery Abounds

Well, I'm back again with more artwork.

Just a quick little blurb here about it all since last time I covered I got a new medium to do artwork on last time.

Since then, I haven't really played too much with it.

Save for one drawing.

I'm normally a pretty free handed person when it comes to drawing. While I like things to look nice and straight and all that I'm not necessarily going for perfect.

However, I do what people to be able to know what my drawing is from looking at it and enjoy it as much as I did when I drew it.

So, I decided to try and do a completely free handed rendering of the TARDIS from Doctor Who. Those of you who don't know what that is I say shame on you and go to You Tube and look it up now.

*Ahem*

Anywho, I did use a picture of the TARDIS for reference since I knew I was going to forget SOMETHING when I drew it out. So, here's what I came up with and I hope you and all you other Doctor Who fans out there like it too.

See ya later. ^^

Happy Birthday to Me

Alo there.

It's been quite a while since I've done anything on this site. Mostly because I've been handling real life things like planning to see a really good friend, helping to take care of my parents and such stuff. But I also started a new blog: The Secret Life of Autism.

I'll hook a link off to the side along with the other blogs I run and follow.

In any case, as the title of this post told you, it's officially my 28th birthday.

Considering they way the economy has been going lately, I wasn't expecting much in the way of gifts. I mean, normally I just get money and I either buy food or spend it on going to the movies or something like that.

This year turned out different as I actually got some really cool things.

One of those things is the Bamboo Create: Pen & Touch. I've heard that a lot of graphic design students use things like that. Even a younger cousin of mine who likes art got one recently for his birthday. I was more than shocked to see that.

Normally, as most can tell by my previous drawings, a very traditional artist using graphite and colored pencils. So I had no clue how to use this thing at all. Seriously, this is the first item I own that comes with a stylus.

So, I figured why not just learn by trial and error and see what kind of artwork I can come up with. Well, I think I even surprised myself. I may not be the top of the line yet. One look through some of the art on DA and I know that. But maybe I can slowly get better over time and become a better artist. That's all I can hope for.

Anywho, nuff of the verbal, time for the visual. Hope you enjoy.

Stop SOPA/PIPA

Hey everyone, Creative Karma here.

This post is going to be a little different than the rest of my usual fare because things are coming up in our government that need to be focused on.

Many of you might have all ready heard of the possible new legislative acts named SOPAand PIPA that are trying to be passed into law. If you haven't, it's about time to wake up and pick up a newspaper or check out a website.

There are numerous sites and pages dedicated to talking about these two pieces of legislation. More than enough to understand what they are and what could happen if these new bills pass. And before I go any further I will say this: This site is purely dedicated to my opinion on things based on things I have heard and heard. Anything I say on this subject is based purely on the things I've read and heard about the legislation.

Now, to give a brief intro here, SOPA and PIPA are pretty much the exact same bill save for a change in words and things that are added or not there in the other bill. In short, these two bills are the collective idea and suggestion for how to stop internet piracy of American products such as movies, songs, games and so on.

Of course, this idea is a great one in theory. But then so is a lot of things in a perfect world.

Why don't I support these bills?

It's really quite simple.

These bills give ultimate power to artists or authors or companies that believe someone has stolen (aka being guilty of copyright infringement) to take that person to court to either sue the person or company and/or force the site to shut down or to remove/block that copyrighted item from their site.

While in a perfect world this is a great idea for making sure people aren't committing the internet version of shoplifting, this isn't a perfect world. It's very likely that some companies will use this power without mercy against even the slightest of offenders.

Imagine with me if you will. Imagine video taping your child walking for the first time. Cute right? I know it's adorable. Then, let's say you have music you have on your computer whether you bought it on line or in a store and you set this cute video of your kid up onYoutube with that music in the back ground or added to the video when you edited it.

Nothing wrong with that right?

Well, if these bills pass, there is a good chance that a company might go to the owners ofYoutube and try to take them to court if they don't remove or block the video from their website because the song itself is under copyright and people could download the video and steal the song.

So now that cute video of your kid gets removed from the video sharing site because you decided to play music during the video.

It might seem very far fetched but there is a possibility that companies may take it too far in the name of protecting their clients.

To me this is cutting the line far too close to taking away our right to freedom of speech. If it's not then it's really splitting hairs very closely.

I would gladly support these bills if the government would put restrictions on the companies and how much power they'd have over what is bannable and what is not. Yes, I created a new word there.

If the government could make sure that those people that are truly stealing music, images, videos and the like are the ones being targeted and not the little people that are simply posting things like videos of their kids or syncing music they bought up to a game they are playing that they are paying for anyway. It's that second group of people who aren't purposely committing copyright infringement but sharing their likes and dislikes and hobbies with friends and family.

Until the government can make that kind of promise, I'm against SOPA and PIPA.

I personally don't want to see the day that I can't review books and show things like the cover art for the book because that'd be copyright infringement or the day when my friendTheCinemaChick has to shut down her site because she reviews movies and sometime places clips of movies on the site. I don't want to see the day where people like That Guy With The Glasses team can no longer maintain a website because they show clips of movies and books and comics and games during their reviews. I don't want to see that happen to anyone who is only expressing their opinion on a certain subject manner.

So, along with many other websites and the like I'm supporting black out day which is January 18th. This post may be getting posted in the morning of said date but I support it just the same. This same message will be posted on my other sites as well. This is because, while I may be an artist and a writer and want my works to be protected I don't want that at the expense of freedom of speech. I want people to show pictures I've drawn and make commentary on them. I want to one day have someone showing clips from a movie of a screen play I wrote. I want that because it only serves to spread my works out to everyone. To have them noticed by everyone and get me noticed and appreciated by people who need inspiration or like the way I think.

This is Creative Karma and I'm blacking out.

Spirit Day

Hey everyone out there in cyber land. Creative Karma is back.

Now, most people know that today is different than most days. Today is Spirit Day. Just to recap, Spirit Day is a day now brought to the forefront because a young boy who was constantly bullied because of his sexual preference killed himself.

It's sad that it always takes people something like this to finally get the point across.

It's not okay to bully anyone at anytime. If you are being bullied at school, go for help. Find someone to tell or talk to. It's NOT okay. No one should ever be bullied for their gender, race, sexual orientation or any other numerous reasons. Spirit Day is a reminder to speak out about bullying and to always be yourself no matter what anyone else things.

Yeah, I was teased because I was short, overweight, wore glasses, and hung out with the geeks, book worms, and computer nerds. I was only lucky because I had friends that kept my self-esteem from being affected. Others aren't as lucky or blessed as I was.

In remembrance of this day and for all those still being bullied I drew a picture for Spirit Day. Just remember, a spirit is a beautiful thing if you keep your heart open for others to enter into it. Keep your heart open and your spirit will always glow.

I named this drawing 'Where the Spirit Leads Me'

The Gamer in Me

Hello everyone, this is Creative Karma again. I'm back with a new drawing to add to my growing list.

Now, I'm sure I'm not alone in knowing what The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is. It's simply one of those classic games that has grown to legend for the Nintendo 64 console. It's a game I grew up playing and still love to this day.

It took me long enough, but I came across an old drawing I did of Child Link with his fairy Navi. Drawings of him as an adult are in my stash somewhere I just have to find them.

Well, here he is.

Save for the reincarnation of adult Link by the Nostalgia Critic this is one of the most memorable images I have of a piece of my life. (Aside: For those of you who have no idea who the Nostalgia Critic and his That Guy With the Glasses team you must look them up and soon!)

*Ahem* In any case, I hope you enjoy this little piece of gamer love as much as I do.

See you guys on the flip side.

Anime Free For All Round 2

Here comes round 2 of the anime free for all.

I saw the odd lack of drawings on my computer as a sign that I hadn't uploaded all the pictures to my computer. So I went on a search into my physical art portfolio and what did I find? A plethora of drawings that had been hanging around waiting for me to up load them.

It took me about 45 minutes to do all of them but I think I've finally gotten myself caught up.

So, for your viewing pleasure, here is the next round of anime drawings.

Well that's all for now. This is Creative Karma. I'm sketching out a trail one line at a time.

Anime Free For All

I'm back once again.

Real life has taken it's toll so it took me quite a while to get enough time to come and post more drawings. Then, of course, came the inevitable moment of: which drawings or pictures do I show?

The moment that makes me sit back and really think about what pictures and drawings do I have that I want to feature and how.

After a little thought I decided to do a post dedicated to all the anime characters I've drawn over the years. Well...not ALL of them per say but the ones I can find in an reasonable amount of time. Knowing me I'll find more and have to do a part 2 somewhere down the line.

So here they come. Let's see if you know who they are. Good luck.

Hope all you anime fans out there enjoyed this little spree. More to come in the future of course.

This is Creative Karma. I'm sketching out a trail one line at a time.
